On October 10th, the PTSA hosted an informational session about vaping and JUULing. Vaping and JUULing is a prevalent issue across adolescent groups across the nation that has been researched for health impacts very little. A representative from the FCPS Student Safety and Wellness office’s Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs division gave an incredibly revealing and detailed presentation that outlined the following:

1. What is vaping or JUULing?
2. How has the marketing of these products targeted youth and teen consumers?
3. What are the health concerns revolving around these products?
4. What consequences are currently in place for students who are caught using vape, JUUL, or similar products?

Did you know that one JUUL pod contains 59mg/mL of nicotine? That is equal to one pack of cigarettes!

In the future, there will be more opportunities for vaping and JUULing education that parents and students are encouraged to attend! More information about FCPS learning experiences pertaining to this topic can be found HERE.
