Fairfax County Public Schools hosted their 64th annual Regional Science and Engineering Fair on Saturday, March 16, 2019.  The fair is comprised of winning science and engineering projects from high school students representing private and public schools in Fairfax County.

SLHS sent 22 students to compete and 22 SLHS students received recognition at the 2019 Regional Science Fair. “This is an all time high achieving group of projects” said Dr. Pepper D. Buckley, organizer and judge coordinator of our school’s fair. Nearly 400 science fair projects in a wide variety of categories ranging from plant sciences to physics and astronomy took part in the event. Professionals from local government agencies and private organizations possessing extensive academic or professional experience in their selected categories participated as judges.

First Place winners have the option to go on to compete in the Virginia State Science Fair to be held in Roanoke, hosted by Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.

Our heart felt congratulations to South Lakes’s young scientists.
